Making Room: A New Workroom | Laura Vivian
Share
This room is still taking shape, but every time I look at it, I feel thankful.
It gives me more room to work. More room for my materials, my tools, and the pieces I want to create. But after everything that happened over the last year, it means more to me than extra working space.
I lost my aunt to breast cancer. She meant so much to me. She was the one who told me to focus on my business, and those words have stayed with me.
I wish she could see this.
Working with my hands gives me a way to release emotions I don’t always have words for. Sometimes that looks like making something. Sometimes it means slowing down and letting myself feel what I’ve been carrying.
That’s part of what this workroom will be for me.
A place to create, but also a place to unwind. To read scripture, worship, and give thanks. A place where I can be present with the work and remember what it took to get here.
There are still things to move in and decisions to make. I’m sharing it now because I don’t want to rush past this part, the happiness of seeing something I’ve worked toward finally come to fruition.
Laura Vivian carries my history, my family, and the things that have shaped me. This space will hold some of that, too.
For now, I’m grateful to be here. And I’m happy to have room for what comes next.
